In Bologna historic centre, at Via Rialto 13/b, there’s a creative hub whereby oneiric arts and ideas in motion take shape, brought together by a collective of craftswomen. Practices of an inner discourse that are staged as handcrafted artworks: this is RiSalto.
In this setting are featuring a ceramist cicindele.ceramica, ajeweler locagiuliva, a printmaker annalisa.bassi.studio, an engraver bianca_kaplan, a rebellious embroiderer graziosaegarbata, an origami artist kikupaper and photographer, a macramé artist lilullabeand a weaving artisan fra.bono, to create experimental jewelry, ceramics, creative re-use projects, graphic design and illustrations, paper engineering and origami, posters, floral compositions, as well as workshops held in dialogue with the city, monthly and in conjunction with major events such as Arte Fiera and Bologna Children’s Book Fair, alongside collaborations with international artists and associations.
RiSalto hosts, until February 20, two exhibitions by photographer and printer Romeo Lombardi: “They Say 2026 Will Be a Very Difficult Year,” a series of black-and-white portraits in which the protagonist bewilders the viewer, shifting appearances in an ironic role play; and “White”—a reflection on the possibilities of the blank page, on the latency of the photographic image, on white as the color that contains all colors.” White as a color that allows itself to be traversed, distant from any complacent narrative, absorbing or reflecting.
From February 27 (opening at 7.30 pm) to March 14, the space will host an exhibition by the Palestinians photographer and documentarian Ahmed Barbakh and Aesha Alhor, titled “Traces of Everyday Life. ” Through both photography and video documentary, the works do not merely testify to places or events; rather, they focus on experiencing, giving voice to individuals and communities who, through everyday life, affirm their identity and their bond with the land. The result is an exhibition that invites the public to encounter Palestine through its stories, recognizing its complexity, cultural richness, and human dimension.
From April 13 to 16, RiSalto will present the exhibition “Serendipity” in collaboration with Illustrators Ireland, a non-profit organization supporting the development of illustration in Ireland and beyond. Serendipity combines original artworks with illustrations inspired by them, showing how different creative ideas can interact. The exhibition celebrates chance encounters, drawing on debates and the unexpected that arise when artists inspire one another. The opening, with the artists will take place on April 13, 2026.
